Custody Complaints Not Necessarily Cliché

While no two child custody and divorce cases are the same, there are common issues that come up. For example, many divorce lawyers representing women, are told they want their ex-spouse to want to see their children, not tolerate it because they’re forced to by the court. It is a common fear (and common misconception) of women in divorce, that the father of their children won’t interact or make an effort to do things that kids like to do. The Huffington Post doesn’t shy away from cliché, and doesn’t fail to mention another complaint women commonly express in divorce: our exes are hiding money and owe us more for child support.

In order to keep things “fair and balanced,” the article also addresses the issues men going through divorce typically complain about.  For example, men complain that their ex-spouses don’t spend their child support money on the children, instead spending it on luxury spa treatments, plastic surgery and so on. Another over-sung complaint from men is: our exes are too controlling and inflexible about scheduling visits or considering equal time with our children.

The reason it’s important to legitimately recognize these complaints is so judges  who hear them constantly, might not give them the weight the deserve. Your divorce lawyer should document your serious complaints, no matter how commonplace.
